So, you finally won the lottery. Avoid the common pitfalls of sudden wealth and take these steps to protect yourself:

  • Secure your ticket – take a copy and place in a safety deposit box

  • Hire good counsel – a financial advisor, CPA, and an estate lawyer 

  • Set up a trust

  •  Hire media representation

  • Don't give it all away to charity or friends/family

  • Have a plan figured out before you start spending
